Racing will take place at Ellis Park in Henderson, Kentucky this summer.Track owner Ron Geary announced last week that Ellis Park would be closed because of a continuing dispute with horsemen over online wagering profits.Geary said the horsemen had notified the track they would block online broadcasts of their races if they didn’t reach a new profit sharing agreement. They wanted six percent of the profits from online betting."I said, ‘okay let’s put the six percent in the purse fund instead of cutting purses, let’s improve purses, move through this meet, let’s get all the horsemen behind us,’ and most importantly, by me doing that, they would allow me to send my signals from Ellis Park throughout the country," says Geary.Racing at Ellis Park is set to resume Friday. The meet continues through Labor Day.
