Louisville Secures Enough Pollworkers for Primary

About a month ago, the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office asked residents of Jefferson County – especially Republicans – to sign up to work the polls on primary election day. Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw says now there should be enough pollworkers in place to oversee the balloting.The state recommends four pollworkers at each precinct – two Democrats and two Republicans. Holsclaw says that adds up to about two-thousand workers."Right now we’re pretty much there, occasionally though we face on election morning, a few will call and not be able to do it, so we have to have some backups with that also," said Holsclaw.Holsclaw says if necessary, employees of the clerk’s office can fill those pollworker slots.She predicts a strong turnout tomorrow, driven mostly by the Presidential race. Statewide, official are predicting a turnout of up to 25 percent.
