Coast Guard Prepares for Thunder

As many as 300 spectator boats are expected on the Ohio River for Thunder Over Louisville this Saturday, and the U.S. Coast Guard is preparingfor the increased traffic. Petty Officer Aaron Tinelli says crews will be ready for a variety of possibilities."We’ve been working on our towing, we’ve been working on search and rescue operations, to make sure everybody gets out of here safe and happy and that our crew is taken care of as well. We’ve been training for the last three days, to get everybody up to speed and we’re doing everything we can to consider the environment, and the people we’re dealing with the and different vessels we’re dealing with," said Tinelli.Tinelli says recent rains have made the Ohio River more hazardous to navigate.High waters mean a faster current, and more debris in the water.
