Heavy rain hitting the Louisville area has increased the risk of flooding. The Metro Sewer District has cleared storm drains to help prevent street flooding, but District executive director Bud Schardein says the real threat comes from the Ohio River.“This is going to be about a 10 foot rise in 48 hours. I’ve been doing this for 24 years and I’ve never seen the river rise that quickly,” says Schardein. To prevent severe flooding the city will put in street closures along the river at 10th and 27th streets. They will also activate 6 of the 16 pumping stations.
