Historian Dan Jones continues his exploration of the British monarchy during the Middle Ages with his new book, "The Wars of the Roses: The Fall of the Plantagenets and the Rise of the Tudors."
Jones will talk about his book and British royal families past and present Monday evening at the Louisville Free Public Library.
I spoke with him recently. Listen:
On the infighting and self-destruction of the Plantagenet dynasty in the 15th century:
“At the end of it, there are so many battles, really bloody and vicious battles, whole families wiped out. There’s almost no one left standing except one man with the crown on his head, and that’s Henry Tudor, who establishes an even more famous dynasty.”
Jones will speak at 7 p.m. Monday at the Main Louisville Free Public Library as part of its Authors at the Library series.
