A job fair for Kentucky Kingdom is aimed at attracting more than 1,000 employees to the park for its May reopen.Set up as a "meet and greet," the job fair will present potential candidates with the opportunity to interact with managers and directors from every department within the park. The job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Phillips Lane. “We have 11 departments that range from horticulture, park services, sanitation, rides, games, merchandise, security,” said Ed Hart, president of Kentucky Kingdom LLLP. Hart said he believes the nearly $43 million in park renovations attract the “best and brightest” team members. “It’s all about delivering a superior guest service experience and that starts in the front line with the right trained team members and motivated team members,” Hart said. In addition to upgraded rides and facilities, Hart said the back-of-house amenities and workplace environment is “top draw.” “That creates the right atmosphere in our seasonal team and that good, positive attitude extends to our guests,” he said. Some candidates at the job fair will be encouraged to explore positions with the park’s newest department, the Kingdom Ambassadors. This 20-person team will be responsible for enforcing park rules and maintaining order to ensure everyone has a pleasant visit. “We generally look for male and female college athletes, they’re not security personnel,” Hart said. “They are only a radio call away from security.” The park is on schedule to meet the May 24 reopen, he said. “We are working hard, 24/7,” Hart said. “The park is exploding with construction.” The renovated Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay will feature 16 new rides and attractions, Hart said. Officials are asking job fair attendees with last names beginning with A-M to come from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and last names beginning with N-Z to come from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Interested candidates must be at least 16-years-old to apply, but some positions require employees to be at least 18-years-old. Wages will start at $8.50 per hour. All applications must be submitted online at www.kentuckykingdom.com.
