The University of Louisville football team is bowl-eligible for a second straight year. The Cards notched their sixth victory of the season today, defeating host Connecticut 34-20. U of L is also tied for first place in the Big East Conference heading into Friday’s regular season finale at South Florida.Kentucky’s hopes for post-season play came to an end today at Georgia, where the Bulldogs beat the Wildcats 19-10. UK is 4-7, with Tennessee visiting Lexington next weekend.Indiana fell to 1-10 on the season with a 55-3 loss to number 10 Michigan State.In college basketball, U of L defeated Butler 69-53, and Kentucky beat Penn State 85-47.
Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
