Former Kentucky state Senator Ed Ford has died at his home in Cynthiana at the age of 80.Ford served in the General Assembly from 1978 to 1994 and was secretary of the Executive Cabinet under former Gov. Paul Patton. He also served as chairman of the Senate Education Committee.In a statement, Gov. Steve Beshear called Ford an "outstanding public servant as well as an honest and loyal friend."Ford is survived by a daughter and five sons.
