The president of Churchill Downs, Incorporated says his company will again pursue expanded gaming legislation next year in Kentucky.Bob Evans noted during a conference call with investors Thursday that voters in Maryland approved a referendum this week allowing slot machines in that state."Kentucky is now the only one of the three states that conduct racing's storied Triple Crown without legislation allowing slot machines," Evans said.A measure proposed by Governor Steve Beshear that would have allowed slot machines at Churchill Downs and other sites around Kentucky failed to muster enough support for passage in this year's General Assembly.Beshear has said he'll meet with legislative leaders to talk about putting the matter back on the agenda for the next session.
