Actor Landham Announces Senate Run

Actor Sonny Landham, known for his movie tough-guy roles, says he will run as a Libertarian in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race.Landham, who announced his candidacy Wednedsay at the State Capitol, refers to incumbent Republican Mitch McConnell as "Boss Hogg," the corrupt TV politician on The Dukes of Hazzard television show. He says McConnell only reaches out to working Kentuckians when it’s election time."He does not have any touch with those people outside of elections. You write Boss Hogg a letter about a social security check and he’ll send you back, 'Thank you for supporting my amnesty plan,'" Landham said. The 67 year old Landham, who lives in northeastern Kentucky, calls Democratic U-S Senate nominee Bruce Lunsford an "elitist."Landham needs to raise five thousand valid petition signatures by August 12 to qualify for the November ballot. He says he will have no trouble gathering them.
