Film review and podcast by c d kaplan
It’s always a bit tricky when an actor is asked to play a real person whom we know from TV or film or stage, etc.
Do they get all the ticks and nuances of the character’s physical presence, and do they project the person’s personality?
The latest to give it a go is Renée Zellweger, who is the ever beloved singer/ actor Judy Garland in a slice of the end of life biopic, “Judy.”
This is Garland in the last year of her life, when alcohol and drugs and lifelong insecurities have worn her down.
It is a film that is both sad and compelling.
