Louisville's first Design Week starts today.
Running through Friday, Design Week will include panel discussions, lectures, and studio tours. All sessions are open to the public, and organizers expect attendees from a wide range of professional backgrounds.
"Everything from education in design to agencies and digital companies all the way to [business]. We have one panel that talks about design as an entrepreneur—so designing a business plan," said Zach Stewart, president of AIGA Louisville, the professional organization for designers that organized the events.
The keynote speaker is prominent New York City-based designer Stefan Sagmeister, whose accolades in advertising and design include two Grammy Awards for recording package design.
He'll speak about his upcoming documentary, "The Happy Film." Stewart said he expects Sagmeister to draw a crowd from across the region.
"He's a super-creative guy and we're really excited to have him here," Stewart said.
Sagmeister speaks on Thursday evening.
