Update: Authorities in southern Indiana have taken a suspect into custody after an hours-long standoff during which a police officer was wounded and a K-9 unit apparently was killed. Sellersburg Police Chief Russ Whelan says the suspect was taken into custody and was not injured, The Courier-Journal reports.The suspect was not identified, and Whelan says formal charges are pending. Indiana State Police say an officer was being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries after being shot in the leg earlier in the day during the standoff. A police dog that was sent into the house did not return and police earlier said they believed it had been killed. Earlier: Shots have been fired at the scene of a SWAT standoff in Sellersburg, and Indiana State Police say an officer and a police dog were shot,according to media reports. The suspect has been barricaded inside a structure in the Hill-n-Dale neighborhood. Local media are reporting the police officer who was shotarrived at University Hospital in Louisville, awake and moving around. There is no word on the condition of the K-9 officer.
