Spokesperson Becky Ruby says the traditional categories of Very Small Business of the Year – for businesses with less than ten employees – and Small Business of the Year are still in place, but they’ve added a few categories. She says GLI wanted to find ways to honor more small businesses in Louisville, because that’s where local jobs are being created.“The vast majority of new jobs and investment in our community comes from small business growth," says Ruby. "Greening, sustainability, inclusion efforts, being able to overcome adversity to emerge stronger, these are really going to be the areas that are really hot areas for growth as our community moves forward.”Other new categories include technology utilization and companies with foreign-born owners.Nominations are due June 25th.
