Louisville Philanthropist Mason Rudd Dies

Louisville businessman and health philanthropist Mason Rudd died over the weekend at the age of 90.Louisville Department for Public Health and Wellness Director Dr. Adewale Troutman says Rudd’s influence went well beyond money. He says Rudd was a persuasive man, with ideas well ahead of his time.“The list of his accomplishments are just many, many, many beyond imagination, if you will," says Troutment, "and, having done all that as a non public health or health professional!”Rudd made his fortune in the construction equipment industry.In his role as chairman of the Jefferson County Board of Health, he was a credited for his leadership on public health issues such as AIDS advocacy, increased access to services for the uninsured and primary care services performed by the health department.Troutman calls Rudd a ‘public health giant’.
