Planners Take Bike Summit Feedback to Drawing Board

Attendees at Louisville’s recent Bike Summit provided city planners with a substantial amount of feedback on city plans to improve bike routes and promote cycling in the city.  And once the plan has been re-shaped and funding becomes available, that plan can be put into action.  Louisville Bicycle Club head and chair of the Mayor’s Bike Task Force Earl Jones says the overall goal is to become a more “bicycle-friendly” community, which would mean a noticeable difference for cyclists.“You would be able to follow routes that are designated and marked to get you from out in the county into downtown, and cross county to some of the things that are really important – the park system obviously, and some commerce centers,"says Jones.Jones says the city is aiming to achieve a level of recognition by the League of American Bicyclists, which has ranked Portland and Denver among the top bike-friendly communities.
