Clarksville Continuing With Colgate Plans

The city of Clarksville is moving ahead with plans to find a developer for the old Colgate plant, even though the sale of the property has not been finalized.Late last year, a potential buyer began an environmental analysis of the site. Clarksville Redevelopment Director Rick Dickman says that’s most likely holding up the sale.“The actual analysis of it and then the determining if there are issues, where exactly they are and how much it might cost to clean up," he says. "I think those are all concerns they haven’t shared with us but my opinion would be, they’re going to get a real good handle on it before they close.”Dickman says the city will send out a request for a developer for the land soon, even if the purchase hasn’t been finalized. Clarksville is seeking a company that can turn the plant into a mixed-use development with condos, restaurants and retail.
