Yarmuth Defeats Northup for US House Seat

Republican Anne Northup hoped to win back a seat in the US House of Representatives she lost to Democratic incumbent John Yarmuth.  But Yarmuth easily defeated her and she conceded the election early on election evening.  Northup told a crowd of supporters that she believes the country still has much to tackle, and she wished her challenger well in Washington.“Clearly our country is at a crossroads.  And we have a lot of big and important issues facing us.  We have to get the economy back on track, we have to secure jobs for our families, we have to finish the war on terrorism, and we have to win it, and we have to get health care costs under control," Northup said.Yarmuth took nearly 60 percent of the vote while Northup pulled in about 40 percent.
