Former Indiana Congressman Mike Sodrel is joining four other Republican U.S. House candidates on a tour of Alaska this week. The hopefuls will tour the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge. Sodrel says he wants to make oil drilling in the refuge an issue in his campaign against Democratic incumbent Baron Hill, but the government should develop other energy sources.“Hydrogen, wind, we need it all," says Sodrel. "We need to run down all these tracks at the same time, but my attitude towards oil is I’d rather have and not need it than need it and not have it.”Congressman Baron Hill says oil companies should drill in the 68 million acres of land they have already leased from the government, instead of opening up protected areas.Sodrel and Hill are vying for southern Indiana’s 9th District congressional seat.
