Wayside To Sell Market Street Property

Louisville's Wayside Christian Mission has agreed to sell its East Market Street properties, ending a dispute with business leaders over plans to expand the shelter.Wayside administrator Nina Moseley says a deal was reached Thursday afternoon. She says the property will be sold to a group that includes one member of the East Downtown Business Association, which has been battling with Wayside over plans to demolish three historic buildings to make way for a new shelter for women and families.Wayside will move its operations, but Moseley says the site has not been determined."The buyer is going to allow us to remain in some of our buildings for up to two years, so that we can carefully think out where we can build this new building and what will be best for all involved," Moseley said. We hope to stay in the area, we love the area, but we will just have to see where that works out."The purchase price was not disclosed.
