Federal Money Allocated for Louisville VA Hospital

Louisville is one step closer to having a new veterans’ hospital. Forty-five million dollars has been allocated by a U.S. House subcommittee to move the process along.Money for a new VA Hospital has been sought by incumbent Third District Congressman John Yarmuth, and his predecessor, Anne Northup. Mayor Jerry Abramson says it’s the first time ‘real money’ has been put toward the new hospital, even though it still has to be approved by the full House and Senate."The Congressman has received full assurance from the committee that it will be passed. That means as it goes to the floor, the Veterans Administration Bill will go on, signed off by the House of Representatives by the fall," he said.If approved, the 45-million will be spent on site selection for the hospital, acquiring the land and preparing it for construction.
