Pianist Van Cliburn has passed away at the age of 78. In 1958 he came to prominence for his win at the first Tchaikovsky International Competition. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, he moved to Kilgore, Texas as a young child, and in the 1980s moved from New York City to Fort Worth. Here are remembrances in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Dallas News.
