Louisville Public Media is excited to announce the launch of our first iPhone app specifically for WFPL News.
The app, which is available in the iTunes store, is designed to help cut through the noise of daily news and prioritize the information that’s important to you in Louisville and throughout our Commonwealth.
Its design and functionality follow closely with WFPL’s mission to offer smart and relevant local news and information that is in the public interest.
It’s also a little different from your average news app. Here’s how.
Rather than barrage your phone with push alerts, our app offers you the choice of when to receive our new daily morning briefing: five stories that offer a robust view of what you should know in Louisville and the state, every day. Five items, one notification. And while we might send an occasional alert when there’s something new we think you should know about, we won’t abuse that trust – or your data plan.
Our app will enable you to read and listen to our stories, explore our newly redesigned website, and live-stream what’s on the radio. We won’t be updating it obsessively throughout the day; that’s what our website is for.
Our app is designed to do a few things, and do them well. That’s it. It’s simple, elegant, functional and organized – just like a good news app should be.
