91.9 WFPK Radio Louisville is teaming up with the Louisville-based music duo Kri and Hettie to present a songwriting workshop for teens. The six-month workshops will be held in the studios of Louisville Public Media beginning Friday, December 13, 2013. Each session will be led by a musical professional to address various aspects of artistic development with focus on authentic voice, song creation, performance, and promotion. The series will offer an equally important focus on life perspective, compassion, and community involvement.
Teens ages 13 to 17 can apply now through December 7th for this workshop online thepowerofmusicproject.com. Tuition to participate will be paid in community service hours equal to the hours spent at workshop (minimum of 36 hours). There will be opportunities to do community service as a group and as an individual.
"We're excited to support Kri and Hettie in their mission to empower young songwriters and help them find their true voice," commented WFPK Program Director Stacy Owen. "The teens in this program already identify as songwriters. We want to give them the tools to make a positive impact on their world!"
