89.3 WFPL Launches Interview Series “Up Front with Jonathan Bastian”
89.3 WFPL News announces a new video interview show hosted by 89.3 WFPL Morning Edition host and journalist Jonathan Bastian. “Up Front with Jonathan Bastian,” will broadcast to approximately 2.8 million households in seven states through Kentucky’s PBS affiliate, Kentucky Educational Television (KET), and will be available for viewing online at UpFrontTV.org. The weekly programs will feature an ambitious and diverse blend of topics and guests.
“One week, you might hear an in-depth discussion with a local policy maker, followed by a conversation with a Pulitzer-winning poet. Another week you might hear an investigative report on education in Kentucky, coupled with a dialogue from the Aspen Ideas Festival about health,” commented Bastian.
Upcoming episodes will feature: E.J. Dionne, op-ed Columnist for the Washington Post, about the politics of extremism in Washington; Frances Beinecke, President of the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), about Obama's recent environmental proposals and the future of natural gas; Sarah Hayward, writer for HBO's "GIRLS," about creating one of the most talked about new television series; Joel Dudley, Director of Biomedical Informatics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, discussing how genomic testing will revolutionize medicine; Paula Kerger , President & CEO of PBS, about the future of public media; and Meg Jay , assistant professor University of Virginia, about her new book: "The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter--And How to Make the Most of Them Now." The program will also regularly feature reporters from 89.3 WFPL News.
