89.3 WFPL News has hired Joseph Lord as the station’s Online Managing Editor. Lord will oversee WFPL's growing online operations. He will write and edit posts on WFPL.org, manage social media, and facilitate the forthcoming launch of the Public Insight Network.
“The addition of an Online Managing Editor is essential to WFPL’s ability to migrate our high-quality news content from the radio to the digital space,” says Gabe Bullard, Director of News and Editorial Strategy. “WFPL understands that in order to fully serve our community, we must make our content as accessible as possible, fully utilizing the platforms embraced by the people of Kentuckiana – whether that’s radio, computer or mobile phone.”
“Joseph Lord’s expertise in digital reporting will be a boon to our newsroom as we expand our service in order to reverse the decline in local journalism,” Bullard adds.
Lord’s presence enables Louisville Public Media to embark on a new level of community participation through the introduction of the Public Insight Network (PIN). Through PIN, new voices, perspectives and levels of knowledge will enrich and democratize local reporting and the public conversation. PIN will launch in the next couple of months during which time the public will be invited to take part.
Joseph Lord is a Louisvillenative. He attended WesternKentuckyUniversitybefore covering public safety and later city government for The Anniston Star in Alabama. He has covered education for The Tribune and Evening News in southern Indiana and music and pop culture for Velocity, The Courier-Journal's weekly entertainment magazine.
