WFPL Celebrates Immigrant Entrepreneurs

This month, 89.3 WFPL will present a series of radio stories honoring and celebrating immigrant entrepreneurs in our community. The five-part series begins November 10 and culminates in a public forum on Nov. 29.

As News Director Gabe Bullard explains, “Starting and running a business is difficult enough, but doing so after immigrating to theUnited Statesis an entirely different challenge.”

Phillip M. Bailey will interview five Louisvillians about the struggles, sacrifices and successes of their lives and businesses. The first interview will air on November 10.  Subsequent features will be announced closer to the air date at wfpl.org (click on Programs). The stories may be heard during Morning Edition (5-9 a.m.) and repeated during WFPL News Here and Now (1-2 p.m.) and All Things Considered (4-6:30 p.m.).

The community is invited to take part in a public forum on Tuesday, November 29, at noon at Louisville Public Media, 619 S. Fourth St. The Immigrant Entrepreneurs Forum will explore the shared experiences of immigrant entrepreneurs. Doors to the performance studio open at 11:30 a.m. Seating is limited. The public is welcome to bring their lunch.

This series is made possible by a grant from the Greater Louisville International Professionals.
