89.3 WFPL’s morning newscast received first place honors from Public Radio News Directors Inc. of Washington, D.C. Winners were announced at the 2011 awards competition at the annual awards banquet on June 25, 2011 in Arlington, VA. The contest covered work produced in 2010.
The awards were voted on by peers in the industry. It is the only national contest that recognizes outstanding public radio news reporting at local stations. Competing in Division A, WFPL’s “8:06 am Newscast on December 10, 2010” took First Place.
“The recognition from our peers is further confirmation that our investment in local journalism is paying off,” said Donovan Reynolds, president of Louisville Public Media. “I congratulate Todd Mundt, host of the morning news, and the entire 89.3 WFPL newsroom.”
Louisville Public Media operates the city’s three public radio stations, which include 89.3 WFPL, 91.9 WFPK, and Classical 90.5 WUOL.
