Todd Mundt Named as Morning Host and Director of New Media Strategies

Todd Mundt has been named the new local host of NPR’s flagship morning news program, Morning Edition, by Louisville Public Media.  Morning Edition airs on 89.3 WFPL weekday mornings from 5am to 9am.  He will also serve as the Director of New Media Strategies.Mundt is currently the Director of Content and Media for Iowa Public Radio in Des Moines, where he played a key role in launching the state’s new public radio network.  He hosted news, public affairs, and fund-raising programs for Iowa Public Television, including the twice-weekly program Iowa Journal   Mundt also developed and implemented program schedules for IPR’s news, classical and Triple A formats and oversaw local productions, including daily talk shows.In 2006 Mundt was one of five people chosen by NPR to serve on the Digital Distribution Consortium Working Group, which was charged with reinventing public radio’s online distribution infrastructure and developing a business plan.“Todd’s unique combination of superb on-air skills and broad knowledge of new media makes him the ideal choice for this position,” said Donovan Reynolds, Louisville Public Media’s Executive Director.  “He will be a great asset to our organization as we pursue the goal of becoming a laboratory for the development of new media for public purposes.” Mundt, who begins work on March l0th, said he’s impressed with how Louisville Public Media is serving the region with three excellent stations.   “I feel privileged to have this opportunity to join the Louisville community,” he said.
