Tolling Plan Approved For Ohio River Bridges Project

Ohio River Bridges Project

Transportation officials from Indiana and Kentucky have approved a set of measures that will establish a tolling system to help pay for the Ohio River Bridges Project in Louisville.

The system, called RiverLink, will collect all tolls electronically. The lowest tolls will be charged to motorists who install a transponder that deducts the funds from a prepaid account.

The cost of crossing the Abraham Lincoln and Kennedy bridges in downtown Louisville, and a new span in eastern Jefferson County, will range from $2 for a two-axle automobile, to $10 for large trucks.

Motorists who don’t have a transponder or prepaid account will be charged more.

Tolling is expected to begin late this year, with transponders becoming available starting in late summer.

There will be no tolling on the Sherman Minton or Clark Memorial bridges in downtown Louisville.
