Louisville Cardinals Seniors Facing Final Home Game
The University of Louisville men’s basketball team plays its final home game of the season Tuesday night, and the next-to-last game of its season.
U of L hosts Georgia Tech. Fifth-year seniors Trey Lewis and Damion Lee will be honored before the game, as will sophomore walk-on Dillon Avare, who’s accepted a scholarship offer from Eastern Kentucky University.
The Cardinals basketball program has self-imposed a ban on postseason play amid several investigations into a prostitution scandal involving former players and recruits, meaning their season will end Saturday at Virginia.
“We can’t do that. That’s fine. I’m not complaining, things happen in life. Another thing was to be a part of a family. And I think that’s one thing I’ve done successfully," Lee said.
Lewis, who along with Lee transferred to U of L this year in hopes of pursuing an NCAA tournament championship, said he’s been trying to make the best of the situation.
“I always look at how this experience has strengthened me and made me a better person. When you look at it from that perspective, you grow," Lewis said.
U of L will need a senior night victory over Georgia Tech to stay eligible for at least a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season championship.
