Alexander McCall Smith is one of the most prolific figures of the literary world.
Smith has called on his background as a professor of medical law in Scotland and his childhood in the former British colony of Southern Rhodesia in dozens of novels, including the popular Number One Ladies Detective Agency and 44 Scotland series.
His latest work is a retelling of the Jane Austen classic Emma.
Smith will talk about his books Thursday at the Louisville Free Public Library.
He recently spoke with WFPL’s Rick Howlett.
