The president of Jefferson Community and Technical College is retiring, the college announced in a news release on Friday.
Dr. Tony Newberry is stepping down after 12 years on the job.
Newberry helped form the Kentucky Community and Technical College
System when it was created in the late 1990s.
He was appointed president of the system’s largest school in 2002.
Newberry said in the release that he would like to return to the classroom and teach history part-time.
A search for his successor will begin later this month. His last day will be June 30.
Jay Box recently became president of KCTCS, taking over for founding president Michael McCall.
