Louisville Male High School's principal has been reassigned because of an investigation into the school's administration of the ACT test, school district officials said Monday.Male Principal David Mike began his new role at the JCPS central office on Monday. Last week, Mike received a letter from ACT officials stating he was “no longer authorized to access, administer or oversee the administration of tests for any ACT owned or branded products.”The Kentucky Department of Education is investigating allegations of cheating on the ACT and further accusations that Mike told students to lie to investigators, school officials said. The investigation is ongoing.Jennifer Geraets, a senior investigator for ACT Test Security, wrote in the letter that the “ACT is willing to permit continued testing” at Male, but some changes will need to happen.JCPS Superintendent Donna Hargens said district officials are taking the situation at Male seriously.JCPS has launched a separate investigationinto Mike's "professional behavior" and possible "improper practices at the school."“We want to be thorough and fair,” she said. Hargens said an interim principal may be necessary, but the district will wait for the outcome of a full investigation before making that decision.
