Saying Republican Senator Mitch McConnell has abandoned Kentucky values, Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes released a new web ad Tuesday ripping the GOP leader's record. The video features west Louisville mother Tanesha Booker, who outlines why she believes McConnell is out of touch. She goes on to say McConnell makes her nervous about her 6-year-old daughter's future."We are fighters in the West End," she says. "We're fighting to take care of our families. We're fighting to fulfill our dreams."Watch:The ad shows some of the vacant properties in the city's predominately African-American neighborhoods with Booker saying she supports Grimes in part because she favors a minimum wage hike and closing the gender pay gap.Besides Booker's daughter the web ad also includes comments from her husband, Charles, who says Grimes would bring energy, excitement and hope to Kentucky if elected. What's not mentioned is that Charles Booker is a former aide to some of the city's top Democrats. He has worked on Congressman John Yarmuth's last two re-election campaigns. Booker also served as a legislative assistant for Louisville Councilman David Tandy until 2012 and was an intern for state Sen. Gerald Neal in 2010.Booker now serves as an analyst for state government in the Legislative Research Commission.Asked if knowledge of their connection to Democratic politics would change a viewer's perception of the ad, the Grimes campaign told WFPL that Tanesha Booker lives in the community and cares about her fellow citizens."Civic involvement should be encouraged, and we hope all Kentuckians get out and exercise their right to vote for Alison Lundergan Grimes this fall," a Grimes official said.
