Byline Today: Louisville Music Venues, Nye-Ham Debate—and What's With the Weather?

Louisville has gotten its share of winter weather, an event at the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky drew national attention, and did we mention the weather? We'll discuss these stories and much more today on Byline.First off, we'll hear from Kentucky Public Radio's Jonathan Meador about this week's happenings during the Kentucky General Assembly session. We saw the state House OK a minimum wage hike and the state Senate take aim at the governor's power to implement regulations (and, therefore, at the Affordable Care Act and the Common Core standards). John Belski, of WLKY (and an occasional WFPL fill-in host), will discuss the seemingly relentlessbouts of snow, cold and ice that have hit Louisville this winter. JCPS has called off classes seven times so far—the second most since 1980.WFPL's Devin Katayama was in Northern Kentucky as science educator Bill Nye talked evolution and Creation Museum founder Ken Ham talked creationism. The event drew national attention, and we'll hear the story Devin filed for NPR.We'll also hear about concerns that a new downtown Louisville music venue will hurt the longtime venue Headliners Music Hall.Join us at 1 p.m. for these stories and much more. Tune in to 89.3 or stream at WFPL.org.
