Louisville Cardinals football coach Charlie Strong has been offered the same position with the Texas Longhorns, the Associated Press reports.Citing an unnamed source, the AP added that Strong is expected to take the job.But WDRB's Rick Bozich reports that Strong has not yet taken theTexas job and is to have a staff meeting Saturday morning. Bozich writes: Despite multiple reports that Charlie Strong will be the next football coach at the University of Texas for a five-year contract worth $25 million, Strong has not told the school that he is officially leaving for that job.Multiple reports that Strong was thechoice for one of the highest profile jobs in college football began circulating on Friday night.If the reports are correct, Strong would replace Mack Brown, who led the Longhorns from 1998 until his retirement following Texas' loss on Dec. 30 in the Alamo Bowl. Brown's last Texas team ended with an 8-5 record.Strong's Cardinals beat the Miami Hurricanes on Dec. 28 to win the Russell Athletic Bowl, concluding the second 12-win season in program history. Last year, the Cardinals upset the Florida Gators to win the Sugar Bowl.Following that season, Strong turned down the chance tocoach the Tennessee Volunteers.Strong, a longtime Florida assistant coach, came to UofL in 2010 to replace the ousted Steve Kragthrope. In four seasons, his Cardinals have gone 37-15. Star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater announced last week that he'd enter the NFL draftinstead of return for his senior season.
