Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky delivered a politicized version of 'Twas A Night Before Christmas poking fun at Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes in a new radio ad released Monday.The 60-second spot features the senator rhyming an overview of President Obama's agenda and once again tries to link Grimes to the administration."The differences are stark and your choice will be clear. But you’ll make your decision in November next year. I’m Mitch McConnell and this approved message is mine, thanks to the McConnell Senate Committee ’14, who paid for this time. So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Kentuckians all, especially Alison Lundergan Grimes, I’ll see you next Fall," he says.Listen:McConnell is in a virtual tie with Grimes according to recent polling, and despite efforts to describe her as the Obama's handpicked candidate the senator's approval numbers in Kentucky mirror the president.But the ad's attempt at humor comes out as a new CNN poll shows the president's health care law's unpopularity has reached a record low approval rating. It finds that just 35 percent of Americans approve of the law.However, as The Washington Post's Aaron Blake points out, among the 62 percent who disapprove of the law, 15 percent "say the law isn't liberal enough."UPDATE 1:03 p.m.:Jabbing at McConnell's low approval numbers, the Grimes campaign is responding with its own holiday message to the GOP leader."As we've seen from his insurmountable disapproval ratings, Kentuckians are tired of Mitch McConnell's silly political games," says Grimes spokeswoman Charly Norton.
