The data is preliminary, but overall crime has declined slightly (about .5 percent) in Louisville Metro Police's jurisdiction this year through November, compared to the same time period last year, Chief Steve Conrad said.The decline from 2011 to 2012was sharper. Property crime this year is about .5 percent ahead of where LMPD was last year. But, comparing those time periods, violent crime has declined about 8 percent, Conrad told WFPL's Gabe Bullard this week during aWFPL news special.So far, Louisville is doing better in its homicide rate. (That, of course, can change.) From Jan. 1, 2012 to Dec. 11, 2012, LMPD worked 58 criminal homicides.In 2013 so far, 46 people were homicide victims in Louisville Metro Police's jurisdiction. Here's where those homicides happened:In 2012, LMPD worked 62 criminal homicides; that was up from 51 in 2011, Conrad said.Here's the status of each case:These are only cases worked by Louisville Metro Police."We have tried to focus our efforts in on really making sure we have officers in neighborhoods where we're experiencing the biggest problems," Conrad said.
