Jennifer Lawrence Foundation to Host Advance Screening of 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire'


A new Louisville foundation set up in the name of Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence will next month host an advance fundraiser screening of her next film "Hunger Games: Catching Fire."Tickets for the Nov. 20 fundraiser screening at Tinseltown range from $125 to $1,000. The film opens nationally on Nov. 22. More information here.The fundraiser benefits St. Mary's Center, which assists teens and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Jennifer Lawrence Foundation is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Louisville, says its website,jlcharities.org. It supports organizations such as St. Mary's Center and the Special Olympics and was established by members of her family.In a note about the event,Lawrence writes that she won't be able to attend but that she's covered the costs of the Tinseltown event so that all money will go to St. Mary's. Lawrence's family plans to attend."Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is the second of four films based on author Suzanne Collins' young adult fiction series. The first installment was released in March 2012 and had a domestic gross of $408 million.  Since then, Lawrence, a Louisville native, won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the comedic drama "Silver Linings Playbook."Here's a theatrical trailer for "Catching Fire":Later this year, Lawrence reunites with "Silver Linings Playbook" director David O. Russell and actor Bradley Cooper in "American Hustle." It's slated for release on Christmas day.
