Louisville officials say the pre-registration period for elderly and disabled people looking to participate in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program will stay canceled through October.
As reported by WFPL yesterday, officials said the federal government shutdown had created a lapse in payments to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, which provides local governments with LIHEAP funds.Louisville officials say they expect to reopen pre-registration in early November and to begin subsidizing energy bill payments on Nov. 12, but that still depends on the CHFS directives.
