Sixty students were on the trip, but they were split on two buses. The bus was carrying 42 students—all high school sophomores and juniors, Jackey says. (MetroSafe has aboard the bus 31 students, four chaperones and a driver. These things always hazy in the hours after an incident. Regardless, both MetroSafe and JCPS say everyone on the bus was taken to a hospital.)The accident happened on westbound I-64 near the Jefferson-Shelby county line, Duncan says. Officials are working to notify the students' parents.Update 5:04 p.m.: Hotline Set Up for Parents to CallParents who think their child may be among the Waggener High students involved in Tuesday bus accident on I-64 can call (502) 574-2117, says Duncan, of MetroSafe.Parents will be asked for information that would verify their relationship.
