Construction is scheduled to begin July 1 newdowntown Louisville bridge running parallel to the Kennedy,The Ohio River Bridges Project announced.The bridge is expected to open in three years.Pre-construction work—such as surveys, test boring and building removal—will be increasing in the next few weeks. The Ohio River Bridges Project adds: Pre-construction and construction activities that residents and commuters will see between now and July include: · Installation of safety zone fencing around construction access areas at Waterfront Park and on the Indiana side of the Ohio River near the Kennedy bridge; · Land and utility surveys; · Access road building, building demolition and signage removal near the safety zones; and · Soil and rock coring.The new bridge will be six lanes heading northbound. The Kennedy Bridge will be changed to six lanes heading southbound.
