Winter Weather is Coming; JCPS Cancels After-School Activities Because of Snow Threat

With the potential for bursts of snow, Louisville and the surrounding area are under a winter weather advisory until 2 a.m. Friday. Because of this, Jefferson County Public Schools is canceling all after-school activities  for Thursday evening.Louisville has a 50-percent chance of snow before 5 p.m., which could lead to accumulation of less than a half-inch, the National Weather Service said. Snow showers are likely Thursday night—between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.—and could bring as much as an inch of accumulated snow. The National Weather Servicesaid: All interstate corridors will be impacted in spots and motorists traveling should be prepared for rapidly deteriorating conditions on these roadways between 6 pm and midnight est. Aside from slick spots on the roads, some of the snow storms could be intense and reduce visibility for motorists, the weather service said. This comes, of course, not 48 hours after strong spring-like storms knocked out powerfor many in the Louisville area and   tornadoes were confirmed in Meade and Barren counties.
