Louisville pianist and composer Rachel Grimes (Rachel's, Kings Daughters and Sons) is the latest musician to perform at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft this month.Included in their on-going Wendell Castle: Forms Within Forms exhibit is a Steinway Art Case piano designed by Castle, and KMAC is hosting a series of performances pairing innovative musicians with the musical work of art.Dubbed the "Caligari," Castle's piano is inspired by the visual design of the classic 1920 horror film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" and German Abstract Expressionist art. The angular, white wooden frame encases a fully-functional Model L Steinway grand piano.Grimes will perform on the Caligari Friday evening at 8 p.m. Her concert will include her own compositions and an improvisation inspired by the Caligari, played alongside a video and light projection by Ryan Daly.
