A new person is joning the Beshear administration to tend to the state's budget, but she's familiar face to Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson in his last government role as mayor of Metro Louisville.Gov. Steve Beshear has hired a new state budget director with nearly three decades of government service so far.Jane Driskell has served in various government roles over 27 years, including a stint as chief financial officer for Louisville Metro government.Driskell takes the budget director role from Mary Lassiter. Lassiter became budget director when Beshear first took office in 2007, but in 2009 also became secretary of the cabinet.Driskell has also served in budget and finance roles in Lexington.She will leave a job with Lexington city government to take the new role and will start as state budget director in January.The state budget director is responsible for assembling the governor's budget proposal every two years, as well as tracking revenues on a monthly basis.
