Officials are projecting higher earnings than expected for the KFC Yum! Center through June of next year and have also announced their intention to bid next month to host the 2016 Olympic swim trials.
Los Angeles-based AEG took over management of the KFC Yum! Center from the Kentucky State Fair Board this year. AEG was charged with bringing in $1 million in profit this fiscal year and booking at least 20 events, according to marketing manager Sandra Kendall.“We’re on target to be above what we had guaranteed what we would bring in this year," she said. The two latest concerts with Bruce Springsteen and Justin Bieber were huge for the arena, said Kendall, and AEG has done a good job at cutting costs within management.AEG officials are now estimating projected operating profit of nearly $1.22 million according to reports.Kendall also confirmed Monday that AEG and the Louisville Sports Commission are working together on a bid for the 2016 Olympic swimming trials.Officials say hosting the trials could have an economic impact of nearly $100 million. The applications are due next month.
