Hundreds of students from around Kentucky will be at the University of Louisville’s Swain Activities Center Tuesday for the 2012 Student Technology Leadership Program.
STLP was launched in 1994 and the regional competition has been held at U of L for over a decade. Students will show ways they’re using technology in leadership roles to serve their communities.“You can really get a sense of how in touch with technology kids are today,” said Stephen Swan, a term instructor with instructional technology at U of L’s College of Education.Sixteen Jefferson County public schools will be among the 39 schools represented at Tuesday’s event, where students will discuss and present their projects to judges and their peers.Projects typically range from community service to learning enhancement through technology.“You’ll see where kids are helping teachers in the building understand how to use their smartboards or their iPads or their laptop computers,” said Swan.Winners will advance to state competitions held in Lexington ion the spring, said Swan.
