Storms Rumble Through Metro Area

UPDATE:  Several hundred LG&E customers were still without service across the Louisville area as of midday today.   Duke Energysays several dozen southern Indiana residents were still without power. Thunderstorms have been passing through the Louisville area this evening, causing scattered power outages.   An LG&E/KU spokeswoman says as of about 10:30pm, some 24,000 customers in Kentucky were without power.  One of the harder hit areas was Louisville's Highlands neighborhood, where about 11,000 customers were without service at one point.The latest LG&E outage numbers can be found here.There have been no reports of major damage or injuries.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
