Noise and Notes: WDRB Returns and Council Members Talk City Budget, Wisconsin Recall

There was quite a shake up in Louisville media this past week, with cable subscribers seeing Time Warner Cable remove WDRB from the television lineup. Before returning to the airwaves, the joust between the local Fox affiliate and cable company was the top story until WDRB announced hiring sports columnists Eric Crawford and Rick Bozich away from the Courier-Journal.For that conversation I saw down with freelance writer Cary Stemle, WFPL anchor Susan Sweeney Crum and University of Louisville communications professor Ralph Merkel.Later in the program, Metro Council members David James, D-6, and Jerry Miller, R-19, dropped by to talk about the city budget and funding non-profit groups in particular. The two lawmakers have also previously debated an issue about the city's public unions, so I wanted to hear their thoughts on the Wisconsin recall that saw Republican Governor Scott Walker easily beat back his Democratic challenger.
